We’re excited to welcome you to this year’s Sweet Tea — a fun and casual weekend of ComedySportz games, camaraderie, and plenty of laughs here in Richmond! Below is everything you need to know about attending, playing, and making the most of your Sweet Tea weekend.

Event Overview

Sweet Tea 2025 will be held on Friday, August 15th and Saturday, August 16th. Here’s the basic schedule:

• Friday show at 8:00 pm

• Saturday show at 7:00 pm

• We’re also considering offering workshops on Saturday morning — stay tuned for details!

Who Can Participate?

Who is eligible to play in the shows?

• This is a ComedySportz-only event, open to Major League players from other CSz cities.

• Provisional players are welcome too — but Major League players will be given priority for stage time.

• Sweet Tea is designed as a tournament for ComedySportz players and not open to non-ComedySportz performers

• For those coming from other ComedySportz organizations, please be in good standing with your home city!

Registration Details

What do I need to do to register?

• First, get permission from your city’s manager to attend.

• Then, fill out the registration form.

• There is no registration fee. Performing in Sweet Tea is FREE!

What should I bring?

• Please bring both color jerseys for games.

• If you’d like, you can also express interest in reffing — that may be an option this year!

• Headshots would be appreciated if you have one handy — it helps us promote the weekend.

How are players selected for shows?

• Visiting players who register will be given first priority for playing slots — before Richmond players.

• Registering sooner rather than later helps determine who is selected for the shows!

Where should I stay?

• If you are traveling by train, Staples Mill Station is the closest train station to the theater.

• If you are flying in, Richmond International Airport (RIC) is the closest airport to the theater

• The theater itself is located at 8906 West Broad St. Richmond, Va.
