WHAT ARE THEY SAYING ABOUT US?

2024 SUMMER camps

CampComedySportz_logo.png

Camp ComedySportz® offers day camps for Elementary (rising 2nd-5th), Middle (6th-8th), and High (9th-12th) School students. We offer a fun, engaging, and interactive performing arts camp where students get to learn (or build on their) improv skills and make each other laugh. They’ll walk away with critical skills that will benefit them their entire lives: confidence, listening, teamwork, creative problem solving, and the ability to overcome obstacles, though they may be too distracted by the fun and laughing to notice that they are learning too.

No matter their experience level - brand new beginner or experienced stage performer - this camp is custom fit to students’ current skill level and needs in order to make new improv discoveries. And, because it is improv, no two weeks of camp are the same. The week culminates with a ComedySportz® showcase for family, caregivers, and friends. Each camper also gets a cool free t-shirt.

Camps are 9AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday.

Pricing for each Camp ComedySportz® week is:

$300 for Early Bird for sign ups made through 1/31/24

$330 for Spring sign ups made 2/1/24 through 3/14/24

$360 for sign ups 3/15/24 made through camp's start date

Game-Based Improv
This camp teaches students how to play classic improv games that you see on stage at ComedySportz and other game-based improv theaters and shows. Students will learn how the principles of improv can be used in any scene, game, or situation to reliably, and comically, respond to your scene partner.

Improv for Storytellers

This camp teaches game-based improv comedy with an emphasis on storytelling. Students will learn how to tell riveting stories with plot, characters, and stakes. Cooler than your English class’s narrative pyramid, but with all the same effects. Whether your child is looking to become a content creator or you’re looking for them to have more than a one-word answer to “what did you do today?,” we’ve got the formula for telling catchy stories.

Creating Characters in Improv

This camp teaches students how to build a character from the inside-out. Students will use the principles of game-based improv to create varied characters on stage. Characters are not only important for great improv scenes, they also help budding actors, writers, and community leaders build personas, as well as support regular people in embracing all facets of themselves.

Be a Star: Improv to Build Confidence
This camp uses the principles of improv comedy to build self-confidence and authentic self-expression in our campers. We will explore what makes each camper so great already and highlighting the positive attributes they bring to the table. Each camper will get to shine in the showcase and show off their unique abilities to their audience. Give your child a boost of confidence right before they start the next school year.

Please note that there is an enrollment limit on each camp, so our campers can get the absolute most out of their experience!

There is also an enrollment minimum, to ensure that the experience is the best we can offer. If any particular camp does not meet the minimum enrollment by the Friday before the camp start date, we will offer refunds or transfers to our other camp offerings.

And most importantly, we want all youth who are energized by our camp offerings to be able to participate. Consideration for need-based financial assistance is available upon request.
